Installation note

If you installed a previous version of MCE RSS Reader on your PC, then please do the following before installing the latest version:

Close the Windows Media Center application.
Look in the system tray and check if the MCE RSS Reader Configuration application is running;
if so, move the mousepointer over its icon in the system tray, press the right mouse button and from the popup menu select the option named "Exit".
Then install the latest version of MCE RSS Reader.

This version does a (much) better job in downloading enclosures.
In the page that shows the contents of a selected message, you can now press the "Play" button on your remote control to start playing the enclosure of the message (if any).

When users, who didn't have an earlier version of MCE RSS Reader on their machine, installed version 1.2.1 or 1.2.2, the Server application of MCE RSS Reader sometimes crashed. This bug was solved.

Version 1.2.0 of MCE RSS Reader is capable of downloading vodcast video files or podcast audio files to your PC.
When Windows Media Center has to play media files straight from the internet, it only supports a limited number of formats. But when it has to play a file stored locally on your PC, it can handle a lot more formats; at least, if you've installed the required codecs.
So now you can also use MCE RSS Reader to watch vodcasts which make use of the popular MPEG-4 or QuickTime formats.
The folder to which enclosed media files must be downloaded can be selected.

A bug was fixed that sometimes appeared when defining new feeds.
The setup now includes a number of interesting RSS feeds. So when you first install MCE RSS Reader, you can start reading news, listening to podcasts and watching vodcasts right away!

The support for podcasts and vodcasts was enhanced.
The algorithm for determining the date/time on which a message was posted was enhanced.
This version does a better job in determining whether an RSS feed contains new messages.

Version 1.1.2 shows which RSS feeds contain new messages. It also shows which messages have not been read yet.

Support was added for listening to podcasts and for watching vodcasts (video blogs).
Messages are now shown grouped by date.

The stability of the setup application was enhanced.
The MCE plug-in was enhanced for update rollup 2 of Windows Media Center Edition.

The error handling was enhanced to prevent MCE RSS Reader from quitting unexpectedly.
